Miniature 1:12 Cat sculpture - Tangled in blue by Pajutee Miniature 1:12 Cat sculpture - Tangled in blue by Pajutee
A special request commission cat sculpture in miniature 1:12 scale -- created by hand using polymer clay with delicate wire support in legs, neck and tail.  Fashioned in a playful, flip-flop pose - this cat was made to be showcased in a client's custom miniature roombox vignette (published in Miniature Collector magazine).  After the sculpture cured in the oven, it was painted in acrylics and dressed in a permanent coat of alpaca/silk fibers and flock.  Detailing in fabric inks.  Shown here alongside Scrabble game pieces to give you an idea of actual size.

Your work is incredible! I have just started sculpting and it would take me forever to even approach your level of talent! Did you do something special for the eyes? I am simply in aw! Jawdrop

Thank you!  Cut yourself some slack if you have only been sculpting awhile.  It takes some time to become comfortable with the clay enough to get the results you want.
I am always trying new techniques for the eyes.  These particular cat eyes were hand painted within the sockets and sealed with several layers of gloss over a clear lens.  The eyes can be maddening to get just right in this scale, and why I am always looking for new, easier/better ways to make them.

I sorta' like the large scrabble pieces story -- wouldn't that be something to get them in that size *wink*

Awesome, the DD is indeed well deserved!

I have a question: if it is not a trade secret, can you tell me how you managed to make the fur? I am a newbie in modelling, and I've been wondering how to deal with fur for quite a while :D

Thanks!  Its not a trade secret...if you wish to see how it is done, note me with your email address and I will send you a free step-by-step tut (.PDF) on how to apply fiber to a commercial model.

I know you must've already gotten a ton of messages like this, but I hope you don't mind me saying that I would never have guessed that wasn't a real cat without you pointing it out. The likeness is seriously amazing!

Thanks so much for the compliment!
That is my aim when re-creating an animal in miniature scale ~ the more believable to the viewer, the better.

While I have always been completely amazed at the detail of miniatures, seeing this cat truly tops it all.  The extreme detail and lifelike qualities of the cat are beyond reproach.  I shall herewith decide this is a REAL cat and you simply made gigantic scrabble pieces to let us THINK it was an astounding sculpture :happybounce:

And I thought those were giant scrabble pieces! BUT THEY'RE REALLY NORMAL SIZED SCRABBLE PIECES AND THE CAT IS REALLY SMALL BUT IT'S NOT A CAT IT'S A SCULPTURE *mind blown*
