WIP Miniature Sea Otter sculptures...

This miniature 1:12 sea otter couple was a recent special commission piece I made using blended polymer clay with wire supports in neck, legs & tail.  Sea otters are known to hold hands when they sleep so that they will not drift apart when in the water, and make for an endearing keepsake in miniature scale.  Each otter was individually sculpted with the ability to interlock paws to be posed together or apart. 
After curing the raw polymer clay in the oven, each one was detail-painted prior to the application of a realistic fur coat using various shades of natural alpaca fiber and glue.  Their long whiskers were added individually and set with glue.  These two sea otters are sold.
