WIP Miniature 1:12 Chicken sculptures by Pajutee WIP Miniature 1:12 Chicken sculptures by Pajutee
My project for the next few days is to cut thread into flock and cut & shape feathers to apply to these polymer clay chicken sculpts.  This has to be my least favorite part of the process (cutting down to size and shaping feathers - ugh!).  The hardest part is holding onto the tiny chicks (which are the size of a pea).  Chiggin

Wow. I can't imagine trying to do that! I make jewelry sometimes but with arthritis creeping up and eyesight worsening, not doing as much as I used to. Can't wait to see them finished!

Thank you.  I like taking WIP pics as sometimes I can see areas that need to be worked on prior to adding the fiber coat.

How do the tiny chick feets not break off?? Aren't they super brittle?

The feet are made with fine gauge wire and painted.  The legs/feet can actually be posed.

I have a fet of tweezers that clamp that I hold mine with by the feet. Sometime I set them on foam and use fat head strait pins and anchor them thru the toes. Cutting feathers is the worst.

Beautiful shot!
Don't know about others, but I for sure gets even more impressed by the end result when I've been given a hint of all the work behind it :la:

Thank you! This is why I like to find other artists who make beautiful miniatures that I can use for props vs. trying to make them myself.  Miniatures might be small, but can sometimes take more hours to make than the lifesize version.

Not only are your sculpts amazing but your photography is also great. You are providing very clear and interesting shots of work and that helps make the creations that much easier to enjoy.

they are moe than adorable! i feel you, holding on to these tiny things sucks; i've made a 6mm ladybug a while ago and I still dread painting it for fear its legs will break off...

Thanks!  I use a fine needle tool to push into the baked clay -- and it allows me to work without touching the surface with my fingers.

I can only hope your eyes don't bulge out a and your headaches are minimal.  Over concentration can unfortunately cause those effects. I think I've fainted.

SERIOUSLY: The description "awesome" is an insult. Nod Love

Thank you!  My eyes are doing well, lately.  However, I am starting to have trouble with arthritis in my hands :(  This makes it somewhat difficult to hold onto the smaller pieces while sculpting, etc.

Very sorry to hear about the arthritis and truly hope it causes no major impediments to your wonderful work anytime soon.  Will continue to enjoy your posts as long as the deleterious effects of the inevitable allow you to do so. I think I've fainted. Nod Love
