Whitetail Doe and Fawns miniature sculpture by Pajutee Whitetail Doe and Fawns miniature sculpture by Pajutee
Here is a pic of the miniature 1:12 scale doe and fawn sculptures WITH their furry coats.  I used natural blended alpaca for their coats and applied both long and short fibers.  Fawn's spots were painted using permanent heat-set fabric inks.
I had not sculpted a doe & fawn since 2011 and have since changed the brand of polymer clay I use as well as a few 'new' sculpting tools for carving :)  I will be offering these pieces, as well as other miniature animals for sale at the upcoming Miniature Masterworks show (Kansas City National Toy & Miniatures Museum ~ Sept 15-17, 2017).

It's cool :) What kind of material do you use to make the fur?

The fur is alpaca fiber applied layer by layer using craft glue -- then trimming to shape.  The legs and face are alpaca fiber that has been cut into a powder-fine consistency called flock.

Not being to nitpicky  but, whitetail deer don't have black tipped tails.

Thanks!  That is interesting to know as I was working from reference photos of does and fawns and the majority show darker colored tails on the topside at the tip.  We do not have the whitetail in our area -- we have mule deer.  The muleys do have a small black tip as if dipped in paint.  This can be easily fixed as I will simply remove the dark hair and replace it with white *wink*

If you didn't say these were made, I'd assume it was a picture of regular deer that had been photoshoped.

Thank you!  When I made my last fawn piece (2011), I actually used white fiber for the spots.  This time, I chose to paint the spots so I could get add of them in the pattern (more realistic as to the hundreds of spots in a typical fawns coat)
